Tidal AP1

New Active Loudspeaker System

The Tidal AP1 brings the Royale concept into the timeless and distinctive design language of all Tidal masterpieces.

Tidal AP1 active loudspeaker system

The idea for the Tidal AP1 began with the launch of the “Moonshot Project” Tidal x Bugatti. The Royale was and remains a high-end speaker that has fundamentally changed both execution and performance, remaining unparalleled to this day. And that was, of course, the intention.

However, there is also a downside—especially for the dedicated supporters and customers worldwide. Its extreme complexity and the immense effort required for its production result in an even more limited availability, making it difficult to offer it to a broader audience of music lovers. And this is precisely where the challenge began.

The AP1 brings the Royale concept into the timeless and distinctive design language of all Tidal masterpieces. It is a fully-fledged speaker that differs from all other technical concepts on the market. With unique speaker drivers paired with equally distinctive power amplification, the AP1 is designed for seamless plug-and-play performance.

Four omnipolar long-throw subwoofers, each operating with different crossover frequencies, reproduce the deepest frequencies with exceptional precision. They blend seamlessly into the four highly efficient front drivers. These front drivers include two long-throw woofers, a midrange driver, and a diamond tweeter. Each of them has been specifically developed for its frequency range and role in shaping the sound composition of the AP1.

To ensure optimal positioning and structural rigidity, all drivers are housed in a sealed enclosure made from the latest generation of Tidal’s proprietary Tiralit material. Each driver is placed in a hermetically isolated chamber and enclosed in a sandwich construction of aluminum, stainless steel, and Tiralit. But that is only the beginning—the real challenge lies in seamlessly integrating all elements without the disadvantages of conventional active or passive speakers. The Royale paved the way for what has now been carried over to the AP1.

Unlike conventional active speakers, the AP1 uses Tidal’s unique hybrid amplification, where different technologies are employed for each frequency range while adhering to the general topology principles that have earned Tidal’s masterpieces a worldwide reputation. Every signal path remains 100% analog and as short as possible. There is no DSP, no AD/DA conversion, and no equalization to compensate for compromises—only to introduce new ones.

The result is eight highly specialized, perfectly assembled, seamlessly fused, and amplified drivers that come closest to a single, invisible point sound source with nearly unlimited dynamic headroom. Despite its advanced engineering, the AP1 is designed for effortless use, as it adapts to both small and large rooms with just two simple settings, regardless of whether it is placed near a wall or in a free-standing position.

The AP1 is one of the most ambitious projects ever undertaken— for many reasons. But above all, it delivers a level of performance and results that were previously considered unthinkable—not because of what it offers within its given design and concept, but precisely because of it.

And to address the small elephant in the room: The name stands out slightly from the usual nomenclature of Tidal speakers. Does Ap stand for Active Powered? No—AP1 stands for the statement behind it, which means so much more: Amplified Performance, the first of its kind.
